What stays in the house.

This policy describes how Family Cloud treats information about a household. It was last updated on 7 November 2026. The short version: the space is for the people who live with the files, and we do not sell what they keep there.

The key

When you create a key, we keep the name of the household, an email address, and a password that we store only as a hash. We use this to let you in and to send a note if the key is changed or the house is closed. We do not use the email for advertising.

Files, calls, and playback

Photographs, papers, messages, and films you place in the house are stored so the household can open them. A call is carried between the people in it and is not kept after the call ends, unless someone in the call saves a recording the others agreed to. Playback position may be kept so a film can resume in the same room.

Notes you send us

If you write through the contact page, we keep your name, email, and the message so we can reply. We delete that correspondence when the question is settled, unless we need it to record a request about your information.

What we do not do

We do not sell household information. We do not rent it, and we do not trade it to advertisers. We do not read your folders to build a profile of your family. We share something from the house only if a person in the household asks us to, if we are required by law, or if it is needed to stop abuse of the space.

How long it stays

Account details stay while the house is open. Files stay until someone in the household deletes them, or until the house is closed. After the house is closed, remaining copies are deleted within a reasonable time. Server logs that mention an address and a time are kept only as long as we need them to keep the lock working, and then removed.

Children

A child uses Family Cloud only as part of a household an adult opened. The adult is responsible for what the child can open. We do not knowingly take information from a child outside a household.

Your choice

You may ask what we hold about your household, ask for a correction, or ask us to delete the house. Write through the contact page. You may also leave, which closes your key.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date above will change. A change that would let us use household files for a new purpose will be told to the email on the key before it takes effect.
